Just to reiterate: we are not going to give Julia excess Salt and Pepper. We will be serving Miss. Masoch, and if need be, we will pay her tab permanently. That is what the Cafe and Diner does. Even if we are roughly half of what we were prior to Jedidiah’s Finger-Lickin’ Chicken and the Sevenfold Pastry Co. I know we were all hoping for some downtime to restructure and rehire. But this coffee needs to be served before it goes cold.
Now, I won’t lie to you all either. Miss. Masoch has the potential to be a more demanding customer than any we have faced before. But, thankfully, we’re all old hands at this trade. So, maybe, we can handle this last crisis together before thinking about passing the torch on to the next coffee slingers. However, I won’t force anyone to stay either. I get it. We have been through a lot. If you need time to rest and recharge, we’ll still have a place for you once things have actually calmed down. Though, I worry things won’t ever actually calm down. Coffee is a busy, busy business. And the burns, the rowdy customers, and the caffeine shakes are always going to be part of the business.
So, if you’re still on board, here’s the plan. We go to Miss. Masoch. Once we know what she wants, what she likes, how she likes it, we take the coffee to her fast and hard. No more waiting for calamity to come to us. No more moons bursting into flies, no more waiting for seeds to grow, no more feeding beasts until they get fat. Our best advantage has always been our naivete and unending gusto. So, let’s charge into this order head first and worry about the repercussions later. We’re not going to tweak the seasonings for years, waiting for the perfect blend to anchor our food down. We’re going to show why the Cafe and Diner is the best in the business.
